OCA Mourns the Passing of Stan Lou

Washington, D.C. — OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates is saddened by the passing of Stan Lou, a dedicated champion for the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community and longtime supporter of OCA’s work. Through his leadership, service, and generosity, Stan made a lasting impact on generations of AANHPI students and leaders.
Stan was a longtime member of OCA and played an important role in strengthening the organization’s commitment to developing the next generation of AANHPI leaders. His support of OCA’s Summer Internship Program helped provide young people with meaningful opportunities to gain professional experience, engage in national advocacy, and build lasting connections within the AANHPI community.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Stan Lou,” stated Ginny Gong, former National President of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. “Over the many years, I was honored to work closely with Stan at both the national and local OCA-DC levels. Stan was deeply committed to OCA’s mission and to inspiring the next generation. His dedication and friendship touched so many within the OCA family. We will miss him dearly and are grateful for his lasting legacy of service and commitment.”
“Stan Lou was a true-blue supporter of OCA,” stated Leslie Moe-Kaiser, former National President of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. “As an ardent ‘Go Blue’ University of Michigan alum, Stan was also a committed cheerleader for OCA, serving as an active chapter member, Executive Council member, mentor to summer interns, patron of the national internship program, and super volunteer for many years. I will miss his enthusiasm, good nature, and encouraging words.”
“Stan was a treasured member of the OCA family who gave so much of himself, especially to the young people in whom he believed so deeply,” stated Sharon Wong, National President of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. “His mentorship went beyond advice and guidance. He opened his home to interns, welcomed them into his life, and made them feel cared for and supported. Through his stories and personal experiences, he connected across generations and reminded us what it means to lift others up. Stan’s warmth, generosity, and belief in the next generation will be deeply missed.”
“Stan Lou embodied what it means to invest in the future of our community,” stated Thu Nguyen, Executive Director of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. “His generosity and dedication to nurturing young leaders have touched the lives of countless students who have gone on to serve their communities in meaningful ways. We are deeply grateful for Stan’s friendship and unwavering belief in the power of the next generation. We will continue to honor Stan’s legacy by carrying forward the work and values he cared so deeply about.”
OCA extends our deepest condolences to Stan’s family, friends, and the many members of the AANHPI community whose lives he touched. Stan’s legacy will live on through the countless leaders and advocates whose lives he helped shape and through the continued work of OCA’s Summer Internship Program.
