Lion Dance Exhibition

Join us for an exciting exhibition of professional Houston Lion Dance Teams. Lion Dance is a traditional Asian performance art, rooted in Chinese culture, that combines aspects of martial arts, dance, music, and theater storytelling using a detailed lion costume, controlled by two people, to tell a story and bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. It incorporates physical skill, immense strength, intricate choreography, and symbolic meaning rooted in Chinese culture and tradition. The art form includes components of visual art in costume design, music from drums and cymbals, and physical dexterity. Lion Dance serves as a vibrant cultural expression, fostering community and preserving cultural heritage for younger generations.
