Please join OCA-Greater Houston, friends, family, and community partners on 9/20 at 7pm for part III of our "Bridge" series as we discuss the commonalities the Latinx and AAPI Communities share, current state and federal challenges for both of our groups (particularly SB4), and ways to utilize civic engagement as a method for equitable change.
In today’s TEA Talk, we will be listening to a panel discussion on how SB4 is negatively affecting our communities by the Honorable Texas State Senator Sylvia Garcia, the Honorable HISD Trustee Anne Sung, Carlos Duarte of Mi Familia Vota, and Susham Modi of Modi Law Firm. We will also share our individual experiences on the topic, and discuss advocacy and civic engagement actions to take.
This TEA Talk will be co-facilitated by Maria Trevino-Rodriguez and Jason Guo.
The intent of TEA Talks is to discuss current and ongoing issues and topics that the AAPI community faces, and promote discussions that drive us toward possible solutions to those issues. We want to make this process as engaging as possible, so we plan to format TEA Talks with interactive activities such as ice breakers, small group discussions, and socials!
